Job Summary

Baylor St. Lukes Medical Center is a world-renowned leader in research and clinical excellence, with a strong alliance with Texas Heart Institute and Baylor College of Medicine. We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Assistant II - Pre to join our Pre & Post Endoscopy- Outpatient Department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff, including monitoring and recording vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene and physical care needs, and accurately measuring and recording intake and output.
  • Perform selected diagnostic tests, such as blood glucose testing and 12 lead EKGs, as permitted on the assigned unit.
  • Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge process, and perform unit housekeeping needs.
  • Deliver specimens, pick up medications, and other items as needed.
  • Act as a receptionist for the unit, with limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy.
  • Check and document refrigerator temperatures, reporting variances to appropriate personnel.
  • Update assigned bed status and answer call lights and telephone.
  • Keep patient environment clean, perform comfort rounds, and keep hallways clear of obstruction.
  • Communicate with patients, family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma/GED required, BLS required - American Heart Association.
  • Experience: 1-year direct patient care experience or graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
