As a Patient Care Assistant II, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to our mission of improving healthcare outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Assist with personal hygiene and physical care needs, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Accurately measure and record intake and output, including fluids and medications.
  • Obtain and record daily weight and perform blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter.
  • Report changes in patient status promptly to RN staff and perform as a sitter or patient care companion when needed.
  • Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge process, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
  • Perform unit housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and maintaining patient rooms and common areas.
  • Deliver specimens, pick up medications, and perform other tasks as needed.
  • Act as a receptionist for the unit, using hospital information systems as needed.
  • Check and document refrigerator temperatures, reporting any variances to appropriate personnel.
  • Update assigned bed status and answer call lights and telephone.
  • Keep patient environments clean and perform comfort rounds, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and unit personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Perform phlebotomy and 12-lead EKGs as permitted on the assigned unit.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • At least one year of direct patient care experience or graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
