As a Patient Access Liaison I at Keck Medicine of USC, you will serve as the primary point of contact for access to our academic medical centers and Health Sciences Campus. You will be responsible for answering, screening, and directing incoming and outgoing telephone calls, electronic messages, and other web-based communications using a call management system. You will also respond to basic inquiries and refer other inquiries to appropriate medical personnel. Additionally, you will contact and distribute messages to medical personnel using various electronic methods, including text, voice, and email systems. The Patient Access Liaison I may schedule and confirm initial and follow-up medical appointments as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service and demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming and outgoing telephone calls, electronic messages, and other web-based communications using a call management system.
  • Respond to basic inquiries and refer other inquiries to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Contact and distribute messages to medical personnel using various electronic methods.
  • Schedule and confirm initial and follow-up medical appointments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a customer service department or environment, or 1 year in healthcare or a combination thereof.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or operations field strongly preferred.
  • Specialized/technical training in healthcare, such as appoint scheduling, registration, insurance verification, or medical assistant, preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and various health insurance types preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • High-level computer literacy with practice management scheduling systems preferred.
  • Bilingual: Spanish, Chinese, and other languages preferred.
Working Conditions

This position may require working from home as/when organizationally deployed, following the departmentally established guidelines and expectations for remote work.

The hourly rate range for this position is $18.20 - $30.97.
