Position: Finance and Accounting Manager - M&A Services

Alvarez & Marsal is a premier independent global professional services firm, renowned for its expertise in turnaround management, performance enhancement, and corporate advisory services. We are expanding our Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) - M&A team.

With a robust team of over 3,500 professionals located in 40 cities worldwide, our firm excels in addressing complex business challenges and driving value creation.

Our PEPI practice is dedicated to serving upper middle market and large-cap private equity firms, focusing on enhancing operational outcomes at their portfolio companies, typically ranging from $50 million to over $1 billion.

Key Responsibilities:
The Finance and Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in our PEPI M&A practice. A successful candidate will possess 5-8 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a strong preference for candidates with specialized expertise in areas such as treasury, financial diligence, internal controls/audit, and FP&A.

Some level of M&A experience is essential, and depth of experience with private equity clients will be highly regarded. The Manager will interact with key client stakeholders, including C-suite executives and Board members.

The Manager will oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations related to transactions, including:

  • Supporting the due diligence phase through deal execution, coordinating with third parties such as valuation specialists, bankers, and legal advisors.
  • Ensuring Day-1 readiness across all finance and accounting functions.
  • Managing the integration of financial operations, including revenue, expenditures, month-end close, payroll, and treasury.
  • Driving the execution of the integration plan while leading a team of cross-functional leaders.
  • Engaging with functional teams throughout the M&A process to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Analyzing historical data of target companies to identify trends and support due diligence efforts.
  • Building strong relationships with clients at all levels, demonstrating exceptional communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Qualifications:
We seek candidates with strong leadership abilities, capable of managing teams effectively. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting operations, particularly in integration or finance transformations.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in M&A accounting and financial diligence is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and related purchase accounting requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to craft impactful messages for top-level executives.
