Job Overview

The STEAM Education Coordinator is responsible for:

Shaping the Educational Vision:

  • Collaborating with the Teaching & Learning team to cultivate a vibrant STEAM culture through innovative projects and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Assisting in the establishment of the school's Makerspace and defining STEAM program objectives that align with the institution's mission and values.
  • Demonstrating effective instructional strategies through STEAM-based lessons delivered to students.
  • Partnering with school leadership to create a cohesive vision for STEAM education at the institution.
  • Guiding educators in aligning STEAM initiatives with the broader educational goals and priorities.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment that promotes excellence among staff, students, and families.
  • Managing communication efforts, including action plans and monthly newsletters.

Utilizing Data for Improvement:

  • Facilitating data analysis related to student performance and collaborating with school leadership to set goals and develop action plans that promote a data-informed culture.
  • Working alongside teachers to create a cycle of professional development that addresses student needs.

Enhancing STEAM Learning in the Makerspace:

  • Collaboratively designing and optimizing a functional makerspace within the school.
  • Engaging with instructional support staff to enhance teaching across all subjects, with a focus on STEAM.
  • Planning and leading STEAM-focused planning sessions with educators.
  • Applying Cognitive Coaching and Adaptive Schools methodologies to support teachers in refining instructional practices.
  • Conducting demonstration lessons and facilitating peer observations to promote effective teaching aligned with educational standards.
  • Co-planning and co-facilitating collaborative work sessions with grade-level teams.

Responsibilities within LAEP:

  • Engaging in project workgroups and professional development activities organized by LAEP.
  • Contributing to initiatives that enhance the culture and success of both LAEP and the school.
  • Assisting in the collection and analysis of evaluation data to assess program effectiveness.
  • Managing documentation for administrative processes, including tracking logs and evaluation materials.

Qualifications:

  • A valid California teaching credential.
  • A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience.
  • Preferred training in Cognitive Coaching and/or Adaptive Schools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience with project-based and inquiry-based learning methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Trauma-Informed Instruction and Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
  • Knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

  • Expertise in project planning to enhance student success in STEAM through community engagement and collaboration.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in developing and leading professional development sessions for educators.
  • Ability to facilitate strategic planning and collaboration around instructional priorities.

  • Experience working with students from various backgrounds and abilities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and families.

Licensing and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and proof of insurance may be required.
  • Completion of a negative tuberculosis screening.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Work Environment:

  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Work may involve navigating uneven surfaces and climbing stairs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
