GENERAL PURPOSE:

The primary responsibility is to evaluate equipment and machinery concerns within the Distribution Center and execute necessary repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on mechanical material handling equipment, including conveyor systems, sortation technologies, and forklifts. Address urgent mechanical failures in material handling systems.
  • Diagnose electrical control systems involving motors and their related controls to the PLC output. Must possess the capability to install and configure VFDs, as well as servo motor controls, and troubleshoot peripheral control devices connected to the PLC input.
  • Execute maintenance projects on conveyor systems, which encompass installation, removal, and process enhancement modifications.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Identify and source necessary repair components for malfunctioning systems.
  • Maintain precise documentation such as work orders, time logs, and parts requisitions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints or schematics.
  • Knowledge of electrical motor control, with strong electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Experience of 5 - 8 years in a progressive mechanical role within a distribution or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in welding, soldering, and cutting torch operations is essential.
  • Accountability for all company assets, including spare parts, supplies, materials, tools, and general facility equipment.
  • Experience with various machines and equipment such as hand tools, drills, grinders, saws, multimeters, tachometers, welders, solderers, cutting torches, hydraulic gear pullers, electric forklifts, pallet jacks, and platform lifts.
  • Capability to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Flexibility to work any shift and/or weekends as scheduled.
  • Ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision.
  • Well-organized with the ability to complete and manage work orders efficiently.
  • Expected to carry out all tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Must prioritize safety and maintain a secure work environment for oneself and others at all times.
