Position Overview
As a key member of the facilities team, the Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order within the university's buildings and surrounding areas. Reporting directly to the Custodial Superintendent, this role is essential in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks in offices, classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, which may involve moving furniture as necessary.
- Clean windows both inside and out, potentially requiring the use of ladders.
- Maintain cleanliness in public and private restrooms, ensuring they are well-stocked and hygienic.
- Collect and dispose of waste in designated containers.
- Transport supplies and equipment between buildings as needed.
- Keep exterior walkways clear of debris, ice, and snow to ensure safety.
Qualifications
- Minimum of elementary education.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience in custodial services.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and maintenance practices is essential.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Physical capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
