About the Role

The Carter Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Director, Research to lead the Epidemiology, Research and Innovation (ERI) unit of the River Blindness, Lymphatic Filariasis, Schistosomiasis and Malaria Programs (RB/LF/SCH/ML).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the ERI unit and conduct program monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Oversee the development, design and implementation of surveys and operational research to support disease elimination.
  • Lead unit team meetings and assist in planning, coordinating, and executing workshops, program reviews, and other meetings.
  • Manage applied research conducted by internal/external collaborators and support proposal development and partner relationship-building to advance program goals.
  • Supervise technical and support staff and manage research project budgets.
Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in a field related to area of research and seven years of related experience at a senior level.
  • Previous supervisory and program/project management experience and international health research management experience post-training is required.
  • International travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Doctorate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related public health field.
  • Experience in neglected tropical diseases or malaria.
  • Ability to apply epidemiological principles, and/or procedures to investigate, review, analyze, and/or determine the risk factors for infectious disease.
