Position Overview

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for designing tailored dietary plans as per the directives of the attending physician, overseeing the operations of the food services department, and conducting nutritional evaluations for patients as required, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards set forth by Life Care.

Qualifications and Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics or a related field accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Must be currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and comply with state licensure or certification requirements, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Registered member of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Experience in nutritional assessment and dietary planning is essential.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, with prior experience in post-acute care being advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with standards of practice for assessing geriatric patients.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, and legal guidelines governing operations in a post-acute care environment.
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
  • Foster professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training.

Essential Duties

  • Consult with patients and their families regarding nutritional needs and objectives.
  • Review menu plans to ensure they align with patients' nutritional requirements and maintain high food service standards.
  • Develop modified dietary plans as requested by the attending physician.
  • Accurately input dietary information in a timely manner (e.g., patient records, dietary databases).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings focused on patient nutrition.
  • Assist with additional food service responsibilities as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients.
  • Aid in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary.
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment in all tasks.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate productively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language proficiently.
