Your Role

The Solar Operations Technician (O&M), Level III within the PEARCE Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division is tasked with performing physical labor at solar energy facilities. This role is pivotal in the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants, adhering to established preventative and corrective maintenance protocols while prioritizing safety and professionalism. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the work sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, time logs, inventory management, and emergency information schedules.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting electrical components using digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar tools.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of installed equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Uphold a strong safety record, with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Safely operate and maintain a motor vehicle in compliance with company policies and insurance requirements.

Note: Specific duties may evolve over time based on business and client requirements.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Commercial/Industrial operations and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants is essential.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance of Solar Utility Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment is mandatory.
  • Candidates should possess robust mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Familiarity with solar equipment such as Inverters, Tracker Systems, or Sub-Stations Equipment is preferred.
  • Proactive in escalating site issues as necessary.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop junior staff into Apprentices.
  • A strong work ethic and high aptitude are essential.

Work Environment

At Pearce, safety is our top priority. Candidates must adhere to OSHA Standards.

  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the work sites.
  • Be prepared to work outdoors in varying ambient temperatures.
  • Lift and transport equipment as required (up to 50 pounds).
  • Availability for weekend and holiday work, including being on-call via telephone/text.
  • Travel may be required based on company support needs (up to 25% travel).

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
