Solar Power Plant Technician

Job Summary
The Solar Field Service Technician - Operations and Maintenance will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar power plants in accordance with established preventative and corrective maintenance standards. This role will perform tasks involving physical labor at solar energy sites, ensuring the seamless operation of our nation's wireless and wireline telecom, commercial and utility-scale solar and wind projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment, including solar panels, inverters, and tracker systems.
- Responsible for documentation, including work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency information schedules.
- Provide a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components with help and use of digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment.
- Testing/troubleshooting installed equipment and ensuring proper working order.
- Maintain a strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Able to work in a solo as well as a group environment.
- Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per the company's policies and insurance requirements.
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in Commercial/Industrial operations and maintenance (O&M) on solar power plants is required.
- Preventive maintenance experience on Solar Utility Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment is required.
- Candidates should possess strong mechanical and electrical experience with troubleshooting and installation skills.
- Specific solar experience with Inverters, Tracker Systems, or Sub-Stations Equipment (TMEIC/SMA/Sungrow/Nextracker/ATI, etc.) is preferred.
- Takes initiative to escalate issues at site.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into Apprentices.
- High aptitude and a strong work ethic are a must.
Physical/Work Environment
Candidates must be able to comply with OSHA Standards.
- Must live within approximately 50 miles of the work site.
- Be exposed to ambient temperatures while working outdoors.
- Lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds).
- Employment may require working on weekends and holidays, including an 'on call' service availability via telephone/text message.
- Travel requirements dependent on support of the company (up to 25% travel).
