JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Pharmacist II role at North Mississippi Health Services encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities centered on clinical practice, education, operational management, research initiatives, and adherence to regulatory standards. This position is pivotal in coordinating patient care across multiple healthcare environments, delivering medication education, engaging in research activities, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

* Collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care across various settings.

* Acts as a resource for pharmacy staff and other healthcare providers in the designated area.

* Aids in the design and implementation of clinical pharmacy services.

* Participates in the training and development of pharmacy personnel.

* Monitors and manages pharmacotherapy for specific patient populations.

* Develops care plans and guidelines that incorporate medications, devices, and delivery methods.

Educational Responsibilities:

* Delivers pharmacotherapy education to healthcare professionals and patients.

* Contributes to programs addressing the educational needs of pharmacy staff and other healthcare providers.

* Establishes objectives for student and resident training.

* Provides medication use education to patients and their families.

* Engages in educational initiatives focused on disease prevention and wellness promotion.

Operational Functions:

* Assists in the prevention and resolution of medication misuse.

* Possesses knowledge of pharmacy and medical claims systems.

* Understands retail and outpatient hospital operations.

* Familiar with billing and reimbursement processes.

Financial Oversight:

* Evaluates and compares drug therapy regimens and delivery methods.

* Supports compliance with departmental budgetary constraints.

Research Activities:

* Coordinates and participates in pharmacological research and development in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Regulatory Compliance:

* Ensures adherence to accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety standards.

* Follows established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited pharmacy school (Required)
* Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications:

* Licensed as a Pharmacist by the State Board of Pharmacy (Required)

Experience:

* 4-6 years in a comparable health system pharmacy (Required)
* Experience in clinical or operational pharmacy settings (Required)

Skills and Abilities:

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Required)
* Ability to work independently and demonstrate clinical judgment (Required)
