Job Summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse II to join our Surgical Acute team on a part-time basis. As a Registered Nurse II, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of the nursing profession at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and provide direct care to patients as needed.
  • Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Participate in unit-based quality assurance activities and contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must possess a valid license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State and have at least one year of post-licensure acute care nursing experience. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing may be substituted for one year of the experience.

Working Conditions

This position may involve exposure to infectious diseases, blood, body fluids, and other unpleasant elements. You may be required to handle unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations. Regular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries may also be part of this role.
