Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Registered Nurse in our Psychiatry department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of the nursing profession.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and provide direct care to patients
  • Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State
  • One year of post-licensure acute care nursing experience (or equivalent experience in a related field)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or equivalent degree in a related field)
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Previous experience working with patients with psychiatric and/or mental health disorders
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute care experience
Working Conditions

This position may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and/or tissue, as well as other unpleasant elements. You may be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations. Irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries may also be a part of this role.
