Job Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, we are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse II to join our Surgical Acute team on a part-time basis. As a critical member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Coordinate nursing care activities with other healthcare disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Administer medications and practice infection control to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in unit-based quality assurance activities to contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
  • One year of post-licensure acute care nursing experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing may be substituted for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • At least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.
Working Conditions

This role may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and other unpleasant elements. You may be required to handle emergency and crisis situations, and work irregular hours due to multiple calls and inquiries.
