Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Specialist to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development, negotiation, renewal, maintenance, and compliance of contracts with established standard terms, conditions, and templates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the contract development and maintenance process, ensuring consistent management of all CE contracts.
  • Monitor and track upcoming contractual actions and deadlines.
  • Support the analysis and development of strategies for contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments and leadership in the contract development process.
  • Support the development of standards for CE contracts, Key Performance Indicators, Service Level Agreements, and general language and provisions specific to information technology products and services.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of CE contract text and attachments.
  • Maintain deadlines on deliverables and communicate on an ongoing basis with business partners and internal stakeholders on CE contractual issues.
  • Provide monthly and annual CE contractual activity reports and other metrics reports to IT Contracts Manager, Clinical Engineering Managers, and other Leadership as requested.
  • Provide advice and interpretation of contract requirements, obligations, and risk exposure to leaders.
  • Database input and management.
  • Apply creativity and sound business reasoning to align contract terms to CE and business needs.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and negotiates CE contracts to ensure compliance with applicable corporate policies and project requirements.
  • Negotiates directly with suppliers throughout the preparation, evaluation, and execution of CE contracts, often as the primary organization CE contact.
  • Participates in audits of CE contracts.
  • Works with Legal counsel to determine the most appropriate contract types to reduce company exposure to risk.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvement methods related to CE contracting.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with peers, stakeholders, and suppliers.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree with five (5) years of experience OR minimally seven (7) years of direct work experience in managing, renewing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts in healthcare or Information Technology in lieu of Associates degree required.
  • Information Systems Management or related area or 8-10 years direct work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract regulations and laws related to IT/CE technologies including data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience working with Visio is desirable.
  • Ability to develop report specifications (e.g., fields, sort order, exclusions) for contract tracking, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.
  • Strong budgeting and cost-management skills.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
