Job Summary

The Sr. HR Generalist possesses advanced knowledge in Human Resources and works under the direction of the Director of Human Resources and Administration (DHRA) as needed. Collaborating with the DHRA, the Sr. HR Generalist partners with various business units to align HR initiatives with organizational goals, with a strong emphasis on attracting, developing, and retaining talent. This role is instrumental in developing and implementing HR strategies that support the organization's overall objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead HR functions for field and office employees, emphasizing recruitment and employee relations.
  • Facilitate performance review programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct reporting to identify opportunities and recommend strategic solutions.
  • Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, sourcing, interviews, candidate evaluations, compensation recommendations, and onboarding.
  • Manage unemployment claims, responses, hearings, and investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal labor laws (e.g., COBRA, FMLA, EEO).
  • Assist the DHRA with compensation analysis and employee bonus programs.
  • Enter new hires and terminations in the HRIS.
  • Maintain ACA reporting regulations.
  • Conduct employment verifications.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures for legal compliance and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead complex employee relations investigations and recommend actions.
  • Design and implement talent management programs, including succession planning and leadership development.
  • Conduct workforce analytics to identify trends and inform HR strategies.
  • Manage relationships with external HR service vendors.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HR best practices and mentor junior HR staff.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees.
  • Participate in strategic planning with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with business objectives.
  • Lead special HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required, Master's preferred.
  • 5-7 years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
  • PHR or SPHR certification required.
  • Experience in optimizing HR policies, programs, and practices.
  • Extensive experience in performance management and employee relations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills in complex situations.
  • Ability to comprehend and present complex information.
  • Sound judgment in resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to influence others and drive organizational change.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

The Sr. HR Generalist in the civil construction industry must be able to navigate various job sites requiring moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs. This role may involve occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds. The position also demands prolonged periods of sitting while conducting office tasks, as well as the ability to visually assess work environments and interact with personnel in various locations. Strong communication skills are essential for conducting meetings and training sessions on-site, necessitating mobility and the ability to engage with diverse teams effectively. Familiarity with construction sites and adherence to safety protocols are also required.
