Position Overview:
This role offers technical and administrative assistance to a railcar product engineering team, focusing on a structured learning path to develop the skills essential for advancement to a railcar product engineer position.

The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for delivering product specifications, work instructions, and support for the procurement, optimization, and maintenance of a diverse portfolio of railcar products that align with customer, GATX, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance to the railcar product engineering team.
- Assist in the development of railcar modification and maintenance instructions, as well as railcar arrangement and component drawings.
- Offer administrative support to the railcar product engineering team.
- Follow a structured learning path to enhance knowledge and skills necessary for progression to a railcar product engineer role.
- Acquire a working understanding of interfacing functions reliant on product engineering services and outputs.

Scope of Work:
This position will be guided by a product engineering team comprised of a manager and staff with varying levels of experience, providing technical and administrative support for a range of railcar products while adhering to a product engineer learning trajectory.

In this capacity, the role will engage with maintenance facility personnel and management, as well as corporate operations and commercial teams, to support the development of railcar modification and maintenance programs that fulfill both external and internal customer requirements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology; Associate degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering; or a related technical field.
- Equivalent and relevant experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software is essential.
- Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn and advance.

Additional Requirements:
- Moderate travel may be necessary to visit repair facilities and customer sites, up to 20%.
- This hybrid role requires approximately 60% of time spent in the office or other work sites monthly.
- Candidates must be physically capable of climbing on equipment within a maintenance facility and standing for extended periods in a plant environment.
