Junior Civil Engineer for Water Systems

Overview
Under general supervision, this position involves civil engineering responsibilities associated with the design, construction, inspection, scheduling review, operation, and maintenance of water treatment facilities and sewer systems, among other duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides guidance, training, and support to junior engineers and technical staff
- Leads the development of engineering designs and specifications for water treatment facilities
- Prepares and evaluates cost estimates while conducting economic assessments
- Serves as the resident engineer on various projects, overseeing construction teams
- Manages surveying operations
- Coordinates the upkeep of sewage control systems
- Reviews technical submissions and wastewater sampling analyses
- Oversees the equipment maintenance system and prepares project-related correspondence
Additional Responsibilities
- Undertakes other tasks as assigned
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based, with potential exposure to mechanical equipment, elevated noise levels, odors, and varying weather conditions.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth understanding of civil engineering standards for wastewater treatment facilities and sewer networks
- Capability to interpret comprehensive engineering designs and specifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
A degree from a four-year accredited institution in chemical, civil, environmental, sanitary, or structural engineering, along with two years of post-degree experience in civil or environmental engineering.
Substitution Policy
Full-time graduate study in engineering disciplines may be considered in lieu of the required experience.
Promotional Criteria
- One year of service with the organization or possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering is required
- Civil service status in relevant classifications is necessary
