We are seeking a highly skilled Public Works Inspector to join our team at the City of Clarksville, TN. As a Public Works Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that public works construction projects, new subdivisions, and private developments meet the necessary codes, ordinances, and plans.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of developments, capital improvement, and construction projects to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
- Review and approve completed work to ensure it meets the required standards.
- Respond to citizen complaints and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, complaints, and other relevant information.
- Perform other duties as required to support the Public Works department.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of construction experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Level 1 Erosion Control Certification.
- Knowledge of inspection principles and methods.
- Knowledge of construction principles and methods.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with citizens, contractors, and other stakeholders.
The work is medium work, requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The job requires standing, walking, and climbing, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
