Senior Electrical/Integration Engineer

Sigma Design is a leading product development, engineering, and manufacturing firm based in the Pacific Northwest. We offer innovative concept through production services to diverse clients around the globe.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical/Integration Engineer to join our team in Redmond, WA. This role is In-Office and offers a competitive salary range of $110k - $135k annually.

Primary Function:

The Senior Electrical/Integration Engineer is responsible for designing DC/DC switching power supplies, mitigating Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), and working with MIPI/I2C/SPI interfaces. This role involves developing and optimizing high-frequency circuits, PCB and flex PCB designs, and mixed-signal systems for an advanced Augmented Reality (AR) display system focused on enhancing perception and image quality.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineers, Optical Engineers, Thermal Engineers, Firmware/Software Engineers, and Safety Teams to design EE systems and perform system integration work.
  • Author system/subsystem requirements/specifications, document design files and test criteria/plans for systems and modules, review and approve vendor design proposals, document test methodologies, component qualification criteria, and support system validation.
  • Conduct failure analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system-level problem-solving.
  • Oversee component selection, evaluation, schematic capture, work with layout teams to conduct/review layouts, follow up on PCB and PCBA manufacturing, perform board/subsystem/system bring-up, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and hands-on debug/testing at EE and system levels.
Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree plus 5+ years of work experience, or 7+ years of working experience with a Bachelor's degree, in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field, or equivalent industry work experience.
  • Extensive experience in high-frequency circuit design, including differential pair layout, measurement.
  • Experience in board-level DC/DC switching power supply design/layout, thermal considerations.
  • Experience in PCB and flex PCB design.
  • Experience in bench soldering.
  • Experience using bench power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters.
  • Experience with Altium or Cadence schematic capture or layout review tools, preferably Altium.
  • Experience with EMI EE/system risk mitigation strategies and techniques.
  • Experience with mixed-signal design, including MCU and FPGA.
  • Experience with cross-functional teamwork and a willingness to drive results.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values.
  • Pass a post-offer background verification.
Work Environment:

Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
