Position Title: Purchasing Manager

Reports To: Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities: None – Individual Contributor

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Controller, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. This role involves maintaining optimal stock levels and managing vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of products and services. The Purchasing Manager also plays a key role in assisting with budget reviews on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with various departments and leadership to assess and define requirements for equipment, materials, and products, including acceptable alternatives.
  • Evaluates current material availability and forecasts future supply based on market trends, delivery systems, and other influencing factors.
  • Compiles and presents reports on market conditions and merchandise costs.
  • Processes purchase orders and requisitions for necessary materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Drafts, communicates, and implements policies and procedures related to purchasing and contract management.
  • Evaluates and approves conditions for bid issuance and awards.
  • Addresses and resolves issues with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintains and/or establishes purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
  • Acts as the representative of the company in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Coordinates the removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Manages the departmental budget effectively.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily sedentary work, involving extended periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer.
  • Work is conducted in an office environment with minimal exposure to loud noises, odors, or extreme temperatures.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally without assistance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary range of $65,000 - $80,000, with potential for discretionary bonuses.
  • Full-time position, day shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability, one week of PTO/Sick leave, and one week of vacation after 90 days, with an increase in vacation after one year.
