About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Deschutes County Health Services. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct substance abuse peer recovery services to individuals at the Deschutes County Stabilization Center (DCSC).

Key Responsibilities
  • Encourage and support individuals in crisis at DCSC and in the community.
  • Help individuals achieve recovery goals and resiliency from substance use.
  • Act as a role model to persons in recovery to inspire hope.
  • Share life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery.
  • Complete required paperwork and electronic health record documentation according to Deschutes County Behavioral Health policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services, or a self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder.
  • Ability to obtain certification in Oregon as a Certified Traditional Health Worker, Peer Support Specialist within four months of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current certification in Oregon as a Certified Traditional Health Worker, Peer Support Specialist.
  • Experience working in the role of a peer.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
