The Vice President of Application & Data Services is a strategic leadership position overseeing the development and maintenance of Bunzl's principal ERP system, which supports over $7 billion in revenue. This role also encompasses the stewardship of the global data lake and integration services across North America. The executive will ensure these systems' integrity, performance, and security while spearheading modernization initiatives to elevate functionality and user experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a dedicated team of RPG developers, testers, and analysts in supporting and enhancing the custom IBM iSeries-based ERP system.
- Implement and uphold best practices and standards for RPG development, ensuring robust testing and deployment processes.
- Direct the design and ongoing enhancement of EDI and middleware/integration services, facilitating seamless connectivity between various systems.
- Champion the creation and utilization of a comprehensive data lake and analytics platform, deriving actionable insights from ERP data to inform strategic decision-making.
- Promote an innovation mindset, leveraging Generative AI for efficiencies.
- Craft and execute a strategic roadmap for the modernization of the IBM iSeries-based ERP system, focusing on user interface improvements and integration with contemporary technologies.
- Manage fiscal responsibilities, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project timelines, ensuring efficient system development and initiatives.
- Guarantee compliance with regulatory standards, safeguarding the security and reliability of all systems and data.
- Provide transparent and regular progress reports to the CIO and executive leadership on system performance and project developments.
- Remain informed of emerging IT trends and assess their potential integration and benefits within our operational framework.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in development, testing, and deployment, with at least 5 years in a senior IT leadership role.
- Expertise in EDI, integration services, data lakes, analytics, and cloud technologies.
- A proven history of successfully leading large-scale ERP implementations and modernizations.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at collaboration and problem-solving.
- Resilience under pressure, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Prior experience in the manufacturing or distribution sectors is advantageous.
