As a Vascular Intervention Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
Providing technical support during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Acquiring and processing imaging data. Offering emergency on-call assistance as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Utilize sterile or aseptic techniques to assist in vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures as per established protocols.
Foster effective working relationships and employ a team-based approach to enhance process improvement.
Execute duties in scenarios where standard practices may not apply, often in high-stress situations.
Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and examinations to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process.
Prepare and operate injectors for administering contrast agents during procedures.
Manually inject contrast agents when pressure injectors are not in use.
Operate ancillary equipment in accordance with specific procedures.
Prepare and screen patients for Vascular-Interventional studies by understanding baseline lab requirements.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the primary purpose of drugs used in interventional radiology, including indications, contraindications, and major effects.
Position patients for optimal radiographic exposure, adjusting exposure factors and processing images accordingly.
Adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures using professional judgment to enhance diagnostic quality and therapeutic outcomes.
Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images as necessary, including after-hours transmission of images and related paperwork.
Report equipment malfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator promptly.
Process billing through RIS and maintain procedural data, including injection data and elapsed fluoroscopic time.
Provide after-hours standby call-in service as required.
Monitor equipment, perform cleaning, and ensure timely repairs.
Instruct and mentor students and new hires.
Stay updated with new technical information and skills through participation in in-service programs and professional affiliations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Certifications: Must hold a Registered Technologist credential from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.


Preferred Certifications:
R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography or R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) in Vascular-Interventional Radiology.
Current state licensure (RL) is required prior to employment.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification:
Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.
Comprehensive understanding of vascular anatomy and pathology relevant to interventional and diagnostic exams.
Proficiency in sterile techniques and the ability to maintain a sterile environment.
Capability to work independently with minimal supervision, especially during after-hours emergency call-in services.

Work Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in a high-volume angiography department.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Must be capable of lifting or assisting with lifting patients of varying weights and handling equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
