Position Overview:

The Senior Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in sourcing and negotiating the acquisition of materials, equipment, services, and supplies. This position collaborates with various departments to ensure that procurement needs are met while resolving any issues related to materials or services. The role requires a solid understanding of procurement practices and the ability to apply experience and judgment to achieve objectives effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to corporate procurement policies and guidelines.
  • Sourcing: Assist in the formulation and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives through market research, supplier identification, and negotiation to secure competitive pricing and terms while ensuring quality standards.
  • Supplier Management: Evaluate and engage potential suppliers, fostering strong relationships and negotiating advantageous terms.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends and pricing variations, proactively addressing potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Cost Management: Strive to minimize procurement expenses through effective negotiation and supplier assessment.
  • Quality Assurance: Work alongside operations and quality teams to confirm that procured materials meet established standards.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations while identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with production, engineering, and finance departments to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate environmental considerations into procurement decisions, supporting the company’s commitment to responsible practices.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize procurement technology tools to enhance process efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at improving procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ethical Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Proficiency in SAP is highly desirable.
  • Experience in an industrial, mining, or chemical processing environment is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience of at least 5 years.

Specialized Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Rare Earth market, including supply dynamics and pricing trends.
  • Understanding of mining industry regulations and sustainability practices.
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills.
  • Expertise in supply chain risk management.
  • Ability to conduct cost analysis and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and procurement software.
  • Strong negotiation skills for supplier contracts.
  • Project management capabilities for procurement initiatives.
  • Experience with SAP for procurement processes.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000, with actual compensation varying based on experience and qualifications.
