Position Overview

As a crucial member of the Birdwatch team, our Residential Assessment Experts possess a comprehensive understanding of modern home systems. These professionals, often with backgrounds as home inspectors, general contractors, or skilled tradespeople, visit properties to document conditions, systems, and any maintenance issues. Beyond the basics, they focus on understanding what may be preventing homeowners from enjoying their living spaces fully, combining technical expertise with relationship-building skills. This role is vital, as these experts often represent the company in initial interactions with homeowners, making first impressions critical.

Compensation: $50-60 per hour

Work Schedule: Part-time as needed, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (schedule negotiable)
85 - 90% fieldwork

Key Responsibilities

We aim to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Success in this role includes:

  • Client Interaction Skills: While technical knowledge is essential, strong communication skills (both verbal and written), confidence, and the ability to establish rapport are crucial. Emotional intelligence is vital for understanding client needs.
  • Contracting Knowledge: Ideal candidates may have experience as home inspectors or general contractors, but a broad understanding of residential properties is essential. This role focuses on practical assessments rather than exhaustive inspections.
  • Team Dynamics: Our team thrives on servant leadership and empathy, fostering a motivating environment where everyone can excel.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of property maintenance
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in home evaluation or inspection
  • Experience in training or mentoring is advantageous
  • Relevant trade certifications are a plus
