Position: Lead Transmission Engineer

Reporting to the Manager of Transmission Planning

Base Salary Range: Dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $83,804.80 - $115,232

Overview:

The Lead Transmission Engineer will engage in collaborative efforts to conduct and oversee reliability and economic studies. This includes assessments of voltage, thermal limits, transfer capabilities, short circuit analysis, and stability evaluations.

The role requires a comprehensive analysis of intricate transmission systems across various voltage levels. It is essential to document findings and communicate recommendations effectively, which involves data manipulation, report generation, and presentation summaries.

We aim to continuously innovate and implement enhancements to improve the accuracy and efficiency of transmission planning processes.

Additionally, the engineer will seek to develop expertise in specific areas to mentor and support team members, contributing to the advancement of organizational objectives.

Collaboration with internal teams and industry colleagues on regional initiatives (e.g., NPCC, ISO's) is a key component of this role.

It is crucial to cultivate a deep understanding of planning criteria, guidelines, and standards (e.g., NERC, NPCC) as well as proficiency in analysis software such as PSS/E, TARA, and ASPEN.

Participation in site inspections for transmission and substations, along with attendance at industry workshops, training sessions, and user group meetings, will be required as necessary.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience is essential.
