About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to join our team at Amoria Bond. As a key member of our Optical Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced optical systems and components for aerospace and defense applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Develop detailed plans and procedures for integrating and testing optical components and systems.
  • Error Budgeting: Calculate error budgets for the fabrication of optical components and the assembly/alignment of optical systems.
  • Review Preparation: Attend and prepare materials for System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR).
  • Optical Performance Analysis: Evaluate the optical performance of components or systems, including Wavefront Error (WFE), Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), and throughput.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in optical engineering, physics, engineering or a related field.
  • Optical Design and Analysis: Proficiency in optical design development and analysis using software packages such as Code V, Zemax, FRED, or equivalent.
  • Optical Test Equipment Experience: Hands-on experience with optical test equipment, including interferometers (e.g., 4D, Zygo), laser trackers, theodolites, and associated software like 4SightFocus, MetroPro/Mx, and Spatial Analyzer.
  • Programming Skills: Working knowledge of programming languages for data processing and analysis, such as Matlab, Python, Mathcad, and Mathematica.
  • Aerospace Integration and Test Protocols: Familiarity with aerospace integration and test protocols, as well as assembly and test approaches.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with various organizations, management, professional and support staff, customers, and government representatives.
  • Security Clearance: US citizenship is required due to contract requirements.
