Job Title: Leachate and Landfill Gas Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Leachate and Landfill Gas Technician to join our team at the City of Fargo, ND. As a key member of our solid waste management team, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our leachate collection system and landfill gas collection and control system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain equipment related to leachate collection and landfill gas collection systems in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance, observe and listen to equipment to determine malfunctions or parts in need of replacement, and operate equipment.
  • Collect qualitative landfill gas samples from various sources on a predetermined basis and maintain records regarding sampling, work activities, equipment operation, etc.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with others in carrying out job functions and maintain working relationships with others in the work unit.
  • Perform all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practices.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma and four or more years of previous experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, and related machinery.
  • Valid class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement and North Dakota Operator's Certificate.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations concerning leachate and landfill gas collection systems.
  • Knowledge of the proper operation and maintenance of equipment used in the leachate and landfill gas collection process.
  • Skill in performing mechanical maintenance and repair to equipment, reading and writing English, and operation of leachate collection systems and landfill gas collection equipment.
Working Conditions:

The majority of work is performed in a field environment involving working inside and outside of vehicles. Seasonal conditions can include excessive heat or cold, and there may be intermittent exposure to very disagreeable working conditions.
