Job Summary

The City of Fargo is seeking a highly skilled Leachate and Landfill Gas Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our waste management department, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of our landfill leachate collection system and landfill gas collection and control system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leachate Collection System Maintenance
    • Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment related to the leachate collection system
    • Monitor operating conditions of equipment and perform minor repairs as needed
    • Oversee subcontractor services and maintain records of work activities
  • Landfill Gas Collection and Control System Maintenance
    • Collect qualitative landfill gas samples from various sources on a predetermined basis
    • Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment related to the landfill gas collection and control system
    • Monitor operating conditions of equipment and perform minor repairs as needed
  • Communication and Safety
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operation of the landfill
    • Perform all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and regulations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four or more years of experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, and related machinery
  • Valid Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement and North Dakota Operator's Certificate
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations concerning leachate and landfill gas collection systems
  • Knowledge of the proper operation and maintenance of equipment used in the leachate and landfill gas collection process
Working Conditions

The majority of work will be performed in a field environment, involving working inside and outside of vehicles. Seasonal conditions can include excessive heat or cold, and there may be intermittent exposure to disagreeable working conditions.
