Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician I to join our team at the City of Fargo. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs at various City buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general routine maintenance at various City buildings and grounds, including cleaning and maintenance of Landfill grounds and recycling drop sites.
  • Assist at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW) and landscape care at various locations.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, and snow-throwers, to maintain turf and perform grounds keeping duties.
  • Drive light truck and trailer loaded with equipment to remote sites.
  • Perform grounds keeping duties, including snow removal, debris/trash pickup, raking leaves, replacing mulching, light pruning, trimming, and watering.
  • Assist with maintenance of recycling drop sites, including painting, collecting miscellaneous items, and general maintenance and cleaning.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with others in carrying out job functions.
Requirements
  • High school degree or GED.
  • One year of experience performing building and/or cleaning maintenance and repair work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of minor equipment maintenance, basic cleaning/maintenance methods and practices, and proper chemical handling.
  • Ability to read work orders, instructions, and labels.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings - weather permitting. Work is generally heavy with considerable variety. Daily work involves moving, pushing and/or lifting objects weighing over 100 and regular driving to locations within the City.
