About the Role

The Patient Access Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth registration of patients into our health information system. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately identify patients and gather demographic, insurance, and visit-related information
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and collect upfront payment
  • Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating behaviors that align with our organization's core values and mission
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of previous experience in customer service or general clerical office duties
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Computer keyboard/typing skills, with a minimum of 35 words per minute
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in a hospital, healthcare practice, or health insurance company
  • Medical terminology knowledge, either through work experience or classwork
  • CHAA certification with the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)
