The Patient Access Representative is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient registration of patients into our health information system. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately gather and process patient demographic, insurance, and visit-related information
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and collect upfront payment as necessary
- Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating behaviors that align with our organization's core values and mission
- Work effectively with patients, family members, insurers, hospital departments, providers, and other team members
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of previous experience in customer service or general clerical office/administrative duties
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including telephone etiquette
- Computer keyboard/typing skills, with a minimum of 35 words per minute
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle minor issues
- Detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, healthcare practice, or health insurance company
- Medical terminology knowledge, either through work experience or classwork
- CHAA certification with the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)
