Job Title: Video Production Specialist

Are you a creative and technical professional looking for a challenging role in video production? Do you have a passion for storytelling and a knack for capturing compelling visuals? We're seeking a skilled Video Production Specialist to join our team at the City of Steamboat Springs.

Job Summary:

The Video Production Specialist will oversee the creation of high-quality video content for the city's communications division. This includes conceptualizing and executing video projects from start to finish, managing pre-production, production, and post-production, and ensuring that all content meets the city's brand standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize and execute video projects from start to finish, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, field production, video recording, editing, and distributing content through city channels.
  • Manage pre-production, production, and post-production of video projects, including scene selection, video editing, graphics, special effects, music selection, and media conversion.
  • Recommend and maintain video cameras, still cameras, drone, audio and lighting equipment, sound, editing software, computers, and other production equipment.
  • Direct the operations of the city's municipal channel 6, including content production, scheduling, and equipment research/budgeting.
  • Operate a variety of television broadcast equipment, field production, and experience with drones or UAV/UAS.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the city and participate in work group and team meetings, department, and service area staff meetings.
Requirements:
  • An associate degree in digital media, video production, or a related field, and three (3) years' experience with current training in video production and theory, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of communications and digital media with specialized skills in video production.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong editing skills and deep understanding of audience, tone, and style, with an ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to reach broad audience and effective oral communications.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a police background check and submit fingerprints.
