Position Overview:

As a Mechanical Repair Technician, your primary role will involve diagnosing issues, performing preventative upkeep, and executing repairs on all machinery within one of Goodyear's Chemical manufacturing facilities. This division is dedicated to producing and distributing rubber-related chemicals for diverse applications. You will also be expected to uphold safety standards, environmental responsibility, and cleanliness throughout the workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, install, and lubricate industrial mechanical systems, ensuring safety guards and shields are in place
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and sketches to ascertain correct work methods
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery, including inspections, lubrication, and alignment tasks
  • Reconstruct pumps and various mechanical systems as required, adhering to standard operating procedures
  • Test and analyze systems, machines, and other equipment; troubleshoot hydraulic systems effectively
  • Utilize precision maintenance tools and techniques such as shaft alignment, belt tensioning, and bearing tolerance adjustments
  • Inspect assemblies and installations for compliance with specifications using necessary measuring instruments
  • Follow Goodyear's attendance policy diligently
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods, which may include lifting materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend, and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements
  • Willingness to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • At least 2 years of experience in maintenance (Millwright, Machinist, or Hydraulics)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology; Millwright experience is a plus
  • AWS, ASME, or API certification in Stick, 2G, 3G & 4G Welding Position
  • Journeyman's card
  • Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or other formal technical training; Millwright experience is a plus
  • Previous military service experience in a technical field
