Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Financial Accounts Technician to join our team at the Florida Caribbean Patient Account Center (CPAC) in Orlando, FL. As a key member of the Accounts Management Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of financial accounts and revenue operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accounts receivable functions, including third-party insurance reimbursements and other account receivables.
  • Analyze outstanding third-party receivables to determine the best course of action to affect maximum revenue recovery.
  • Receive, process, and respond to a variety of communications generated by third-party payers.
  • Audit, analyze, and review information regarding established third-party receivables to discuss the status of the account when inquiry is made on follow-up.
  • Maintain and update computerized records of debts to document collection efforts and identify trends for management.
  • Coordinate collection efforts utilizing accounts receivable software packages.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments involved with the revenue cycle organization as well as external organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following:

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in Federal Service.
  • EDUCATION: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
  • COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described.
