About the Position:

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director of our Program on Education and National Security. This program focuses on identifying national security vulnerabilities in the American education system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research efforts to identify national security threats in education, including legislative and regulatory processes, foreign funding streams, and the influence of outside groups.
  • Publish research findings in various formats, including articles, reports, and presentations.
  • Engage with policymakers, journalists, and other stakeholders to share research findings and provide expert analysis.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to increase the visibility and impact of our research.
  • Collaborate with FDD's programs and fellows to integrate research related to America's education system into their work.
  • Testify before Congress and other governmental bodies on research findings when invited.
  • Manage operational partnerships and ensure effective collaboration with external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field, doctorate preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Nuanced understanding of American foreign policy.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to define objectives and execute research plans.
  • Background in the education field, with public or private sector experience preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote or office setting, independently and as part of a team.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
