As a Practical Nursing Specialist, you will deliver fundamental therapeutic nursing care in accordance with established standards under the guidance and supervision of a healthcare provider. Your role will involve caring for patients with routine and predictable care requirements. Collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes is essential. Effective communication and teamwork, along with respect for various clinical disciplines, are expected. You will also be involved in quality improvement initiatives and performance enhancement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to unit teams, work groups, and committees.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement initiatives specific to the unit.
  • Assess personal learning needs through self-evaluation and track progress.
  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain a record of continuing education and core competencies relevant to your practice area.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and patients/families to support team goals.
  • Maintain and review patient medical records, notes, and physician orders, documenting all patient care activities in line with documentation standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Certifications: BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensure: Eligible for licensure as an LPN in Virginia.
  • Skills: Proficient in English with strong verbal and written communication skills, along with computer proficiency.
