At the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Systems Engineer to join our team of experts in wireless communications and networking engineering.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in communication theory, digital signal processing, and experience with modeling and simulation of the physical layer using MATLAB, Python, or other languages. They will also possess excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, as well as exceptional oral and written communication skills.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research new technologies and develop solutions to address evolving threats in wireless communications and networking engineering.
  • Engage with sponsors to understand and tackle their toughest problems in this field.
  • Work with various technologies including wired, wireless (RF & optical), line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) links, SATCOM, IP networking, RF systems, protocols, software defined radio (SDR), stealth waveforms, 5G cellular and cognitive radio.
