The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a highly skilled Wireless Communications Systems Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for an exceptional engineer with expertise in wireless communications systems engineering to conduct research and development activities in support of various mission areas.

This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, apply innovative solutions, and contribute to the advancement of wireless communications technology.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development of advanced wireless communication systems
  • Design, develop, and test novel signal processing approaches
  • Analyze and solve complex problems related to telecommunications, remote sensing, and anomaly detection
  • Develop software prototypes and document work in technical reports
  • Present findings to sponsors and the technical community
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least one year of relevant experience in wireless communications engineering
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, along with effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the requirements above, we prefer candidates with:

  • At least five years of experience in commercial and/or government wireless communications engineering
  • Hands-on experience with MATLAB, Python, C++/C, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
  • Recent knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community sponsors and programs

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $220,000 annually, based on qualifications and location.
