Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at R1 RCM. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently registering patients, verifying insurance information, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient registration and basic insurance verification
  • Collect and update patient demographic information
  • Interpret physician orders and coordinate patient admission needs
  • Identify non-participating insurances and take necessary steps to inform patients and physicians
  • Provide accurate and courteous patient and hospital information
  • Prepare documents for imaging and scanning into electronic patient records
  • Explain processes and forms to patients and ensure all documents are properly signed and witnessed
  • Assemble and disassemble patient charts and departmental documents
  • Copy and fax documents to ancillary areas and physician offices
  • Maintain inventory control of forms and paper supplies
  • Assist with account resolutions and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience with customer service and computer navigation
  • MS Office experience and excellent typing skills
  • High degree of customer service skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and move freely for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a patient care environment with exposure to infection or contagious disease
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Completed a Medical Terminology class
  • Certification in healthcare access preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • See, read, and/or operate computers, telephones, office equipment, documents, labels
  • Remain sitting, standing, or walking for long periods to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment
  • Frequent interactions with associates, patient care providers, patients, and visitors
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment
  • Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
