Job Responsibilities

You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Provide a wide variety of nursing care in the community, usually from a mobile unit, as an extension of the county health department.
  • Administer various vaccines, including Flu, COVID, & Monkey Pox, perform finger sticks to screen for sexually transmitted diseases, lead, etc.
  • Perform blood pressure screenings
  • Provide patient education & refer patients to community partners, when indicated
  • Provide support to the county health departments with scoliosis screenings, immunizations audits, health fairs/community events, etc.
  • Provide support to the health department when no community events are scheduled.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification

No experience required. A copy of college transcripts is required.

Additional Information

All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event, including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD).
