Job Summary

Sempra Services Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Quantitative Risk Analyst to join our team. As a Quantitative Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in developing and performing a broad spectrum of quantitative analyses in support of our wholesale commodity trading functions and other commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer processes, models, and data used to calculate daily, weekly, and monthly risk metrics and market summarization.
  • Serve as the risk management contact for trade capture system maintenance, including maintaining trading books, markets, locations, and product definitions.
  • Provide analytical and modeling support to risk management and product structuring efforts.
  • Perform quality control review for reporting and modeling prepared by others in the Risk and Structuring group.
  • Monitor risk limits and notify Risk Manager and traders of limit breaches in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with IT, Back Office, Credit, Traders, and Schedulers to resolve issues that arise.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, or another quantitative field from a top-tier program.
  • 3+ years of trading, structuring, or quantitative analysis experience in energy or financial markets.
  • Ability to apply understanding of abstract theory in a focused, practical manner to develop and implement effective solutions to real-world problems.
  • Strong knowledge of Value-at-Risk (VaR), options valuation, and risk management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of commodities markets (especially natural gas) and common finance/risk management practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to quickly familiarize oneself with industry fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, or another quantitative field from a top-tier program.
  • Energy or commodity industry experience.
Work Environment:

This is a hybrid role, requiring a combination of onsite and remote work, typically 3 days per week onsite.
