Harm Reduction Specialist Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled Harm Reduction Specialist to join our team at Harlem United Community AIDS Center Inc. As a key member of our outreach team, you will be responsible for conducting targeted outreach efforts in the Bronx and Harlem to engage people who use drugs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of harm reduction principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
This is a full-time position working Wednesday through Sunday, with regular office hours and evening shifts. The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct targeted outreach efforts in the Bronx and Harlem to engage people who use drugs.
- Provide education and resources on safer syringe disposal and harm reduction supplies.
- Develop relationships with individuals who use drugs and refer them to substance treatment options.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all outreach, education, and referral activities.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Two years' experience in harm reduction, specifically with active injection and other drug users.
- CASAC certification a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
