Job Overview

New Horizon Counseling Center seeks a skilled Substance Abuse Treatment Specialist to join our team of behavioral health clinicians. This role requires at least 3 years of experience working in human services with an SMI/SUD population.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the ACT team in clinical meetings regarding substance abuse issues and incorporate findings into service plans.
  • Implement integrated dual disorder treatment (IDDT) strategies within the team.
  • IDentify necessary ACT services for clients based on severity of substance use diagnosis, stage of change, and immediate needs.
  • Conduct substance use assessments, provide substance use diagnoses, promote harm reduction, and apply assertive outreach and stage-wise treatment.
  • Engage in risk assessments to determine the degree of risk for substance use and associated harmful behaviors, and recommend interventions required to work towards recovery.
  • Determine when a client's severity of substance abuse may require Inpatient Rehabilitation, Medically Managed Detoxification, Chemical Dependence Medically Supervised Inpatient and Outpatient Withdrawal, and other OASAS licensed programs and harm reduction.
  • Making referrals to and acting as liaison and advocate for clients who require external substance use interventions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Assertive Community Treatment, community integrated treatment, support services, and resources.

Requirements

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
