Employment Type: Full Time, 80 hours per pay period

Compensation: Starting at $17.50 per hour, commensurate with experience

Availability: Must be available for the following schedule:

  • Monday-Thursday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Friday: Alternating weeks from 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM or 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Evenings: Until 8 PM as needed
  • Weekends: Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM - 3 PM or until the last patient is seen
  • Holidays: As required

Role Summary:

The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient interactions by managing appointment scheduling, registering new patients, and overseeing the check-in and check-out processes. This position requires proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt to new procedures while integrating them into existing workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Registration
  • Collect and update all necessary demographic and guarantor information.
  • Verify insurance status and update existing and new insurance details using the designated software.
  • Document instances where patient signatures cannot be obtained during virtual visits and update records accordingly.
  • Encourage patients to utilize MyChart for updating their information and signing necessary documents.
  • Collect copayments and other payments as required.
Patient Check-In
  • Review appointment notes to ensure all necessary paperwork is provided and address unique situations per departmental and provider protocols.
  • Adhere to billing procedures established by Patient Account Services.
  • Evaluate insurance eligibility responses and make necessary updates.
Appointment Scheduling
  • Answer incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Schedule appointments accurately using provided guidelines.
  • Coordinate lab appointments and utilize messaging systems to request orders from nursing staff.
  • Reschedule appointments as needed following nursing and provider protocols.
  • Inform nursing staff of any changes to the same-day schedule for specialty providers.
  • Manage work queues to ensure timely patient contact and appointment scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Position Status: Full Time
