Compensation: Starting at $17.50 per hour, commensurate with experience
Availability: Must be available to work Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with alternating Fridays from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Evening shifts may be required until 8 PM, and weekend rotations include Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM or until the last patient departs.
Position ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in addressing patient needs by managing appointment scheduling, registering new patients, and facilitating the check-in and check-out processes. Strong computer proficiency and the ability to adapt to new procedures are essential.
Patient Registration Duties- Collect, input, and update all necessary demographic and guarantor information.
- Verify insurance status and update existing and new insurance records using the designated software.
- Document instances where patient signatures cannot be obtained during virtual visits and update records accordingly.
- Encourage patients to utilize MyChart for updating their information, including insurance details and signing required documents.
- Collect copayments and other payments as necessary.
- Review all appointment notes and messages to ensure that patients receive the appropriate paperwork and that any unique situations are addressed in accordance with departmental and provider protocols.
- Adhere to billing protocols as outlined by Patient Account Services.
- Assess insurance eligibility responses and make necessary updates.
- Answer incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner.
- Schedule appointments accurately using provided resources.
- Coordinate lab appointments and utilize Epic messaging to request necessary orders from nursing staff.
- Reschedule missed or canceled appointments as per nursing and provider guidelines.
- Inform nursing staff of any additions or cancellations to the same-day schedule for specialty providers.
- Manage work queues to ensure timely patient contact and appointment scheduling.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
