Job DutiesThe program coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Automotive Technology program. This includes planning and effectiveness evaluation, development, and implementation of program goals. The program coordinator works collaboratively with the Dean, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Student Affairs, and the President.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of classes in the Automotive Technology related fields and will coordinate with other instructors and lab support staff to assure the success of the students.
Additional Responsibilities- Community Service
- Departmental activities, including course development and evaluation
- Mentoring adjunct faculty
- Student outcome assessment
Faculty should possess a baccalaureate or associate degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. In lieu of the associate degree, alternative qualifications such as related work experience in the field, professional licensure and certifications related to the teaching assignment, honors and awards, continuing professional development, documented excellence in teaching, and/or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes will be considered.
A minimum of five years current experience as an automotive technician is required.
Preferred QualificationsASE Credentials in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Automobile Service Technology, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Engine Performance & Repair, Heating & Air Conditioning, Maintenance & Light Repair, Manual Drive Train & Axles, and Suspension & Steering are preferred.
Additional SkillsThe successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as classroom management skills. They will also have patience, resilience, and cultural sensitivity, and be able to create instructional materials for lectures and labs.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other technology is also required, as well as the ability to integrate science with other subjects and encourage scientific thinking.
