Job Title: Lab Pathology Biller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Lab Pathology Biller to join our team at Toledo Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely review of Laboratory/Pathology claim denials and working under the supervision of the Associate Director of Laboratory Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Laboratory and Pathology billing by receiving patient treatment codes for reimbursement claims.
  • Enter charges into AS-400 for Pathology and Laboratory.
  • Access Onco EHR for documentation to complete Lab claims and WindowPath for Pathology claims.
  • Work claims in eCW and create reimbursement claims for Medicare/third-party payers.
  • Coordinate reimbursement activities, including aging and denials, with insurance companies using e-Clinical Works.
  • Communicate with Physicians and their office billing issues.
  • Submit paperwork to insurance when required.
  • Responsible for e-Clinical Works billing processes and workflows.
  • Assist PARs with patient insurance/billing issues.
  • Communicate billing issues with Laboratory Management.
  • Responsible for BWC claims and denial.

Requirements:

  • Medical Billing Experience.
  • Disciplined, organized, detail-oriented, and excellent customer service and phone skills.
  • Knowledge of ICD10 and CPT codes.
  • Previous experience with medical claim entry/processing.
  • Experience with medical insurance carrier requirements and processes.
  • Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time, and completes all tasks within established time frames.
  • Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience and knowledge of accounts receivable and insurance reimbursement practices and procedures.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED.
